So, I went a little more contemporary this time. There is some "light reading" included.
1. Bossypants--Tina Fey--Doesn't really need an explanation.
2. Secret Daughter--Shilpi Somaya Gourda (This is probably my first choice--I've heard really great things about this book)
3.The Great Gatsby--Mer, I have also never read this--I'm assuming its because we went to the same sub-par academic high school.
4. The Greater Journey: Americans in Paris--David McCullough (I thought this looked really interesting based on his interview with Colbert (lol)--and of course his other books were amazing too.

Hil, The Greater Journey was the VERY next book on my list. Baptiste is reading it now and my mom just finished it. Both of them said it was fascinating.
And yes, two college degrees later I still feel like I'm making up for my high school education.
